Dear Military Vehicle Enthusiasts: Wednesday, June 13, 2018
Our Memorial Day event was a big success. Judging by the number of hamburgers served (88), the event was well attended. The weather was near perfect. Our new Post Commander, Fritz Eley, presented checks to the winners of the Patriot’s Pin and the Scout of the Year.
The military vehicle Big Shoot event was also a big success. Once again, we dodged the rain storms, although our playground was extremely wet. However, the swamp was no match for our military vehicle attack. Conwell’s M-38, White’s Munga, and my M-151 took on all the challenges of the swamp and the mountain. We did get a little muddy, but a great time was had by all. Unfortunately, one civilian Jeep did allow us to demonstrate our skill at extracting stuck vehicles. Our next event will be a display on July 28th. American Legion Post 90 is sponsoring a Saturday night band and displaying our vehicles at the Legion will help contribute to the event.
Upcoming Events:
· June 14-16: MVPA National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky – Again, members who wish to attend this event, the club will supply fuel and hotel room for those who want to carpool
· July 1-5: Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association Convention in Atlanta, Georgia
· July 28: Beaverdam American Legion Post 90 Saturday Night Display – 5 pm – 8 pm
· August 30 – September 3: Graves Mountain Trail ride – Bring your best vehicle and pit it against the best mountains on the planet - Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
· September 22: Field Day of the Past – A little change, we are going to have a light vehicle drive in Saturday morning and leave Saturday afternoon.
· September 15: Glen Allen Day
· November 17: Trucks and Tanks at VFW Post 10657 - Our annual event! We need ALL members for this big one.
